Ski Day

Last Friday, the entire school got the opportunity to take the day off school and go on the annual ski day at Mount St. Sauveur. Everybody woke up at 6:30 and hopped on the bus after a quick bite to eat. Upon arrival at the hill after an hour-long bus ride we were all broken up into groups. Each group had a staff in charge in case of any upset during the day there would be someone to go to.

Kiara and I sat in the cafeteria working on graphing quantitative data for thesis and got the inside look on everything that happened all day. We sat in the warmth while others enjoyed the outdoors skiing and snowboarding. It was around minus thirty degrees Celsius, plus wind chill so we didn’t really mind missing out. Throughout the day we saw different people come in from the unforgiving chill in search of different things: some freezing thinking they had frost bite, others wanting a cup of hot chocolate or a poutine. Most people came in just to rest up before once again going out to face the outdoors for a few more runs. Everyone came in around 12:30 for lunch; fries and burgers seemed to be a really popular choice. By two o’clock most people had come in once or twice, some staying to play a round of cards or just to wait for pack-up time to come around. When it was finally 3:00 and time to go everyone was tuckered out; almost every person could be found sleeping at one point or another on the bus ride back to school. Back at school we had a nice warm supper waiting for us to end off a great day.

A big thank you goes to Mr. D.K. Chan for organizing everything from rentals to lunch money, none of it would have happened without you. I hope everybody had a fun day.

-Ted, grade twelve student
