Headmaster's Message

Dear Friends,

I am sad to report that the Board of Trustees of Sedbergh School has made the difficult decision to close its doors at the end of June 2010.  A tough economy, declining enrolment, the ongoing challenges and costs of providing a top quality education in today’s environment, and proliferating options now available to families, have all been factors in the Board’s decision.  As you can imagine, everyone on the Sedbergh team is very disappointed and working through a range of difficult emotions.

On behalf of the Sedbergh community, I would like to thank each of you for your support over the years.  Sedbergh embodies all the traits and values one might expect from a small, country school.  It’s a close knit, caring and talented community of faculty and staff that have provided great kids with an education of a lifetime, for a lifetime.

Finally, the entire staff and students here are committed to having the best three months Sedbergh has ever known.  We are going to celebrate 71 years of students’ success in as many ways possible.
