Compost Evolves at Sedbergh School |
|
Thanks to a thoughtful application by Ms. Pedicelli and the grade nine class, the Metro Grocery Store chain provided funding for a grand compost project. Materials were purchased locally for the construction of two giant compost bins. The grade nine students, along with Mr. Hedges, Ms. Pedicelli, and Mr. Vintcent, have made serious progress in the construction phase. The group has been working with hand tools, and learning experientially, the Sedbergh way. The class, along with the school, is excited to make this advance with the compost program. Mr. Bellamy has really started something good for Earth; that now seems to be further evolving at Sedbergh. We hope that many generations of Sedberghians can use these compost structures and keep vital nutrients where they really want to be. That is, in our gardens, and back to our food!
