Sedbergh School’s boarding life creates a positive and caring atmosphere for its students. They spend nine months of a year away from home and a positive dorm life is crucial to creating a unified and positive school. Living in close proximity with other young people from so many countries of the world brings an appreciation for other cultures, other ideas, other styles of life. As well it can forge very close friendships, friendships which often last a lifetime. Boarding Facilities Sedbergh School is located on a spectacular 1,200 acre campus. Situated in the Laurentian foothills in Québec, Canada, the school is home to forests, lakes, and even a ski hill. Since 1939, Sedbergh Boarding School has housed numerous students from more than 10 countries around the world. International and Canadian students are drawn to Sedbergh School for its unique outdoor location and safe environment. Most staff live on campus including the Headmaster, Teachers and their families, our Registered nurse and associate faculty members. Girls' Residence The girls’ residence can house up to 25 female boarding students. The double rooms contain a bed and desk for each student, as well as a private bathroom. Boys' Residence The boys’ residence can house up to 55 male boarding students. Each room is home to two to three students. Every student has a bed, desk and storage area. Common washroom facilities are on site in the dorm building. The Boys’ and Girls’ Residences are attached directly to the school. They have common rooms in which students may spend some of their free time playing games, reading, or just relaxing. They are supervised by House Parents who are assisted by Residence Dons, Teaching Assistants and senior students. Both residences have a wireless high-speed Internet connection. Laundry facilities are offered to all students. All boarding students also have access to the Student Activity Centre. The centre has televisions, DVD players, a pool table, fitness room and gym. Sedbergh Boarding School accepts students from grades 7 through 12. Sedbergh School's dormitories acts as a release from the stress of a busy academic and athletic day. They are a second home and give students space and time to relax and to be themselves. It is a safe place where friends can be made and where one learns how to respect and to live with other people. Boarding life is a great experience. |
