2009-10 Flu/H1N1 Information

September 2nd, 2009

Regular flu vaccines will take place at the local clinics  in October and are free of charge for a target group of people( the elderly, pregnant women, infants, chronically ill people, and health care workers on the front line)

The H1N1 vaccine will be available in November in two doses. The Quebec government is planning mass immunization clinics for all of its citizens but priority should be given to the at-risk groups. The viral strain remains low to moderate at this time.

Prevention and education remains the best defense against the flu ie: frequent and thorough hand washing, coughing on your arm (as opposed to in your hand).

All flu cases will be watched closely at the school, the students will be examined by a physician as necessary.

Students that display the symptoms will be sent home if possible; otherwise they will be kept in isolation in the infirmary or other locals which will be used for this purpose.

As always the parents are kept informed and we will be keeping close tabs on all future developments.

Best regards.
